Mom to: Maya, 6; Ari and Noam, 4-year-old twins

Hometown: I live in the North Beach neighborhood of Seattle.

Favorite ways to spend family time in WA: One of my favorite summertime activities is taking the stand-up paddle board to Golden Gardens and having a beach day. Golden Gardens is my happy place, and it’s fun to see my kids experience their own freedom there too. We also love to play board games at Chuck’s Hop Shop.

Your most rewarding motherhood moment: When I see my kiddos showing empathy and compassion toward others.

Biggest challenge as a mom: My biggest challenge as a mom is managing the constant worry and self-doubt I feel related to mothering. Are my kids doing OK? Are they gonna grow up and struggle with x,y or z? Am I a good enough mom? And on and on it goes…

A mother who inspires you and why: I am inspired by my own mother. She is showing me that it is never too late to find yourself. It has been an honor to witness her (in her 70’s) growing more into her own power and creating a life that fulfills her.

Best piece of advice for a new mom: Practice self-compassion. There is nothing more challenging than being a mother. Without self-compassion, mothers can feel really beat down. Also, find a community of mothers you can trust and can be authentic with about the challenges of motherhood.

Your biggest hope for your children: That they grow up to truly know and trust in their worthiness and find communities that support and celebrate them.

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day? I think brunch with my family and then hopefully a few hours away from my kids. Haha!
