Restaurant of Week: Aerlume Seattle

Aerlume Seattle is a fine dining restaurant situated hillside above Elliott Bay that combines a beautiful seasonal menu with stunning views of Puget Sound for an experience that will satisfy all the senses.

Located in the heart of Seattle, just steps from Pike Place Market, Aerlume was a concept that was born out of a desire to bring fresh, seasonal ingredients from local purveyors to the tables of Seattle diners. The menu is designed to reflect the light and open-air feel of the dining room in which it is served. The dining room features an indoor firepit and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water, bringing the outside in with thoughtful design elements and decor.

Upon reviewing the wine list you will immediately notice the efforts to support local with the presence of great Washington wines. With many wines from Walla Walla and Columbia Valley, you’ll find some of the best local wineries on this menu.

To begin your meal, we highly recommend the Essential Bread and Butter. While it may sound basic, it is anything but that – it is a brioche loaf with rosemary sea salt diamante and absolutely delicious honey butter. Another starter we enjoyed was the Peruvian steak bites with Anticucho sauce, cilantro, sesame and grilled toast. If you’re feeling adventurous, a really unique appetizer is the chicken liver mousse with pickled berries, candied pecans and truffle butter toast.

For entrees, a must-try is the pork shank that is perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and the meat just falls off the bone. Both the wild Alaskan black cod and the seared sea scallops are beautiful dishes. The buttermilk fried chicken is surprisingly gluten-free and very delicious if you’re feeling like something more filling. The Beecher’s white cheddar marble roasted potatoes are a must-add side dish.

We recommend saving room for dessert and enjoying the chocolate crunch bar with Nutella, chocolate mousse and raspberry. It is a beautiful presentation for a beautifully crafted dessert. If you can time it with the sun setting on Puget Sound, even better.
