Fabulous People: Lendy Hensley

Lendy Hensley is the co-founder of Bite Society, a Seattle company that was born during the pandemic. “At Bite Society, we’ve made gift baskets cool again. Hometown: Virginia Beach, Virginia

First job: Ice cream scooper

Favorite ways to spend your free time in WA: Floating on Lake Union in my boat while my wife, Katy, plays the accordion.

Your biggest accomplishment and why: Developing Bite Society in 10 months from concept to product at the beginning of the pandemic. There were so many issues, and we just kept going.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: I think anytime global pandemic is a thing, it is an obstacle. We created something from scratch while wearing masks and staying six feet apart.

Someone who inspires you and why: Artist Wayne Thiebaud. He was “discovered” because he kept visiting galleries with an armful of paintings. He painted, curated exhibits and played tennis into his late nineties.

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: You have to love it. There are easier ways to make money.

Favorite quote: “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” –Henry Ford

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I co-founded Seattle Artist League.

What makes someone fabulous: Humor. Make me laugh, and I am yours for life!
