Restaurant of the Week: The Cottage

Located in one of Seattle’s most underrated suburbs resides The Cottage, a local favorite making its mark on Bothell. Coffee shop, gift shop, brunch, dinner and bar: The Cottage truly has it all.

Offering a wide selection of food and beverages for any occasion or any time of the day, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for here. Trendy on the inside and extra cozy on the outside, The Cottage takes outdoor dining to a new level creating an ambiance full of twinkling trees and heat lamps that will make you wish you could stick around all night long. Serving up live (currently streamed) music alongside innovative food, you’ll want to visit again and again.

Kick off brunch with a slice of quiche. Made fresh daily in the scratch kitchen, this fluffy dish is packed with flavor and a go-to for many. Looking for a heartier option from the midday menu? A vegan favorite is the Thai peanut and chickpea wrap, which is loaded with chickpeas, peppers, shredded carrots, onions, cilantro and finished with a house-made Thai peanut sauce. This colorful wrap is served with seasoned-to-perfection truffle fries for a flavor combo that will appease even the meat lovers.

Another great option to share or as your main is The Cottage Waldorf salad. With a base of mixed greens, golden raisins, candied pecans, apple, Gorgonzola, blackberries and a raspberry Champagne vinaigrette, your taste buds will explode with joy and long for spring. Make it a heartier entrée by adding a protein like the free-range chicken breast or wild-caught sockeye salmon.

Happy hour more your thing? Dig into the mouthwatering grilled lamb pops served with a feta-dill yogurt on the happy hour menu, which is dished up 4 to 6 p.m. on weekdays, 4 p.m. to close on Thursday and 3 to 6 p.m. during the weekend. You can’t forget about The Cottage’s legendary cheese and charcuterie boards, which are always a crowd pleaser, with local and imported cheeses, cured meats, Macrina bread and more, and pair perfectly with one of the many offerings from the bar.

As always, be sure you save room for dessert. You might not want to share the gluten-free triple chocolate brownie with raspberry sauce and Nutella cream. The Nutella cream is whipped by hand and will leave you wishing you could head to the kitchen to lick the spoon.

The Cottage is open Tuesday through Sunday for dine-in and takeaway. For more information, visit thecottagebothell.com.
