Flavour Bistro

Located about 10 miles east of Woodinville in a rural setting, the small city of Duvall is home to some great family-run farms, a charming walkable downtown area, a dozen parks and not much else. While one might not think of it as a top dining destination, it’s hiding a little secret: some of the best fine dining in King County. Book a reservation at Flavour Bistro and prepare to be convinced.

Flavour Bistro sits hidden at the back of an old building on Duvall’s Main Street. The restaurant itself isn’t new, but it’s under new ownership — Executive Chef Clive Gomez and his partner purchased the eatery last year, adding a hint of Caribbean flair to the dinner menu. Chef Gomez grew up on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, where his exposure to a wide variety of cuisines inspired his love of culinary arts.

Chef Gomez has worked for some of Seattle’s most iconic restaurants, including Capital Grille, The Metropolitan Grill and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. So if you’re tempted to order a steak there, you really should — it’s just as delicious as anything from Seattle’s finest spots, and it’s far more affordable. The rotating dinner menu also includes other hearty entrees like pork, fish and pasta options. And while it’s tough to top a good starter salad, the freshly made soups are mind blowing — especially if you’re lucky enough to visit on a day when tomato soup is served.

If you dine at Flavour Bistro on a Wednesday or Thursday, you can take advantage of the special three-course meal for $50. This includes your choice of soup or salad, a selection of several top-rated entrees and a choice between two desserts. The portions are perfect, meaning you’ll be able to finish every morsel if you can, but you’ll definitely leave feeling perfectly stuffed. The daily happy hour also offers a host of affordable options…and while it’s limited to the bar, a few of the tables in the area are family-friendly, so you won’t have to choose between dining with children and all the decadent deals.

While the food is reason enough to visit this place, the ambiance makes it an exceptional experience. The dining room and bar area are visually stunning, decorated with obvious attention to detail. Although the vibe here is laidback and casual, you’ll feel fancy as soon as you’re seated.

Flavour Bistro also boasts an impressive cocktail list, with some classic options as well as some unique choices, like a Honey Badger (made with bourbon and local wildflower honey). For those doing a dry month (or life), there’s also a great selection of sodas and mocktails.

Flavour Bistro is open Wednesday to Saturday, although Sunday is for brunch service only. Making the drive to a small town for a meal has plenty of perks, like free and easily accessible parking and beautiful scenery along the way. Just know that it’s practically impossible to only dine here once.
