Fab Couples

Katy Carroll and Lendy Hensley

Katy Carroll and Lendy Hensley, founders, Bite Society

How did your love story begin? We met, as many ladies do, on the soccer field. Katy was a super sub on my soccer team, The Joans. She was a lot better than me, but I liked her anyway.

Favorite thing about one another: Lendy: Katy is up for anything. She’s currently building a guitar. During the lockdown, I was never bored with Katy. Katy: Lendy is fearless. She took our idea of starting a gift basket company, and we ended up with a warehouse full of packaging covered in original artwork.

Favorite date night: When the weather is good, we like to float up and down Lake Union on our boat. Katy noodles on her accordion or guitar, and I pretend to draw. There are always snacks.

Favorite tradition you have as a couple: A little thing we call Janumas. We knew we were a good match when our first Christmas together rolled around, and we punted to January for exchanging gifts. Our traditional Janumas dinner includes Reuben sandwiches.

What does your happily ever after look like? After we grow Bite Society to something huge and successful, we plan to keep doing what we have always done: Travel and eat the foods of other lands, something we call the Tart Tour (that is a combination of shopping for vintage wood-working tools for Katy and going to art exhibits for me).
