Detour Bar’s Après Ski Club Pop-Up

Nothing says Seattle winter like an après ski theme, and Heavy Restaurant Group’s latest concept, Detour Bar, is doing just that with its newest pop-up. Located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Après Ski Club pop-up bar features cozy winter décor, ski-themed cocktails, shot-skis and comfort food. The pop-up is open through April 17 inside Detour Bar.

When you step into Après Ski Club, you are immediately immersed in a winter wonderland. Twinkle lights surround the small, cozy bar, along with fake snow, powder-dusted trees and mini ski gondolas that hang from the ceiling lamps. The plush, homey furniture is reminiscent of a ski lodge; visitors will no doubt feel like they’ve been transported to one of the nearby mountains.

No visit to the lodge is complete without a winter-themed cocktail, and Après Ski Club is serving up a delicious variety of them. Try the Snowbird with gin, butterfly pea syrup, lemon and eucalyptus bitters, or the Freerider with bourbon, Braulio and orange bitters. For those who prefer a warm drink, the hot buttered rum and mulled wine are both fantastic. There are several mocktails to choose from as well, like the Wipeout with Lyre’s White Cane, cranberry syrup and lime. Après Ski Club also offers a lovely selection of wine and beer. For some extra liquid courage, take a swig on the shot-ski. Shots are $9, and you can choose from Malört, Rumple Minze and several others.

One of the best parts about winter skiing is all of the tasty comfort food that accompanies it. Detour Bar’s Après Ski Club has an impressive list of dishes, like the clam chowder bread bowl, cheese fondue and Swedish meatballs. You can’t miss the Drunk Pig Croquettes that are filled with gooey goat cheese, prosciutto, béchamel and romesco, and the mushroom-Swiss burger is a classic, complete with caramelized onions and roasted garlic aioli. For a unique take on raclette, try the Chalet Pizza, with raclette cheese, bacon, cornichons, potato, pearl onions and a garlic Dijon sauce. For those with a sweet tooth, Après Ski Club has s’mores cheesecake on the menu that is delightful.
