Favorite ways to spend your free time in WA: Going to my family cabin in Shelton and enjoying all the fresh seafood that Washington bays has to offer!
Your biggest accomplishment and why: In 2020, I was the Regional Sales Manager at Henry’s Tavern in SLU (now shuttered) and was proud to be a part of the announcement of Seattle’s first NHL team, Seattle Kraken. We conceptualized and hosted the party for this monumental announcement alongside the players, Mayor Jenny Durkan, and other special guests. We featured hockey puck ice cream sandwiches, Seattle Kraken-branded popsicles that could be added to rum to create a daquiri experience, and we even had news radio broadcasting live from the event. It’s was very special to be involved.
The biggest obstacle you overcame: Entering a corporate environment as a young event planner right out of college was an intense experience and huge learning curve. I’m grateful for the struggle and my ability to adapt to a more refined environment that has nurtured my skillset into something I am very proud of today.
Someone who inspires you and why: My mentor Debra Hermansen will always be the biggest impact in my work life. She took a chance on me, and we formed the duo I love to call “Lucy and Ethel.” She is one of my closest friends and confidants that will be in my life forever.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Always stay positive. This career can be overwhelming, but always ask yourself: “Is there a solution?” And if there is not one in the moment, then do not let it overtake the evening. Do what you can and if you can say you tried your hardest, that is all that everyone can ask of you.
