With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to get your plan in place for how to best celebrate the famed Irish holiday. Fortunately, there are a number of events and celebrations set to take place all across the state. Here’s where you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Washington.

The Seattle Center Festál presents Irish Festival Seattle in partnership with the Irish Heritage Club (IHC). Irish Festival Seattle is held in March as a way to celebrate Irish heritage, culture, and arts with two days of traditional music, step-dancing, lectures, genealogy workshops, Irish films, exhibits, displays and more. This event is free and will be hosted virtually this year, beginning at 1 p.m. on March 13 and March 17.

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Dash will be held once again this year from March 13 to March 14 via a limited event at Green Lake Park. This race covers nearly 4 miles (6.4 km) and runners have the opportunity to dress in costumes of leprechauns, Guinness cans or any vibrant green attire they can find. The race begins and finishes at Seattle Center and will finish at Irish Beer Garden, which is set to have a number of activities planned.

Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Crawl is slated for March 13 and will undoubtedly be one of the coolest—and booziest—days of the entire year. A purchased ticket to the event includes one to two free drinks, a complimentary bottle opener keychain, a custom Lucky badge and lanyard, food specials at select “crawl” locations, professional photographers and access to enter a $500 costume contest.

Washington is also home to a number of Irish pubs and restaurants that serve authentic fare in a quintessentially gaelic space. Many are even set to host St. Patrick’s Day-specific events, along with dining and drink specials.

TK Irish Pub, for example, has garnered a reputation for its undeniably fun and vibrant event that can quite literally be enjoyed any time of the year—though it’s especially great on St. Paddy’s Day. The pub boasts six big-screen TVs, a famed happy hour that serves up surreal savings on pub food, beer, ales and wine. They also have a unique take on the classic Reuben sandwich called the Irish Flu Shot—is there a more fitting dish to enjoy while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day during a pandemic?

Kells Irish Restaurant & Bar is the place to be during the St. Patrick’s Irish Festival. Between authentic Irish fare and an extensive list of beer options, this place has been dubbed as one of the grandest places to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day in all of Washington—and according to locals, it might arguably be one of the best in the country too.

O’Blarney’s—with locations in Centralia and Olympia—is one of the coolest pubs and restaurants just about any day of the year. But come St. Patrick’s Day, the space takes their celebrations to the next level with an authentic atmosphere that includes staple Ireland dishes like shepherd’s pie and endless pints of Guinness.

One of the truest Irish establishments in the entire United State is Flanagan’s Craft Pub—a restaurant and pub that offers 26 on-tap beers that are available on a constantly rotating basis.

And finally, this place is what Ed Sheeran’s “Galway Girl” dreams are made of. The Galway Bay Irish Pub is located in Ocean Shores, and serves authentic fare inspired straight from the mainland—think soda bread and Guinness on tap. They also have a super unique Celtic gift shop where visitors can purchase an authentic Smokin’ Paddy O’.
