Capitol Hill Comedy / Bar to Open in Seattle

Seattle’s first comedy club dedicated to becoming a community hub for the local comedy scene, Capitol Hill Comedy / Bar is set to open May 6.

The soon-to-open Seattle venue aims to provide a platform for local comedians to showcase their talent and entertain audiences six nights a week. The highly anticipated comedy club will honor of the legacy of the now-shuttered Jai Thai, which was once a popular destination for the Washington State stand-up comedy scene.

Entertainment options at the new venue will include open mics, trivia, bingo, karaoke and local stand-up comedy shows. Weekends at the Capitol Hill comedy club will be devoted to community events and workshops dedicated to cultivating the next generation of local talent.

“We want every show to feel like both viewers and comedians are experiencing the ‘big time,'” says Dane Hesseldahl (pictured), owner of Capitol Hill Comedy / Bar. “We’ll bring on some people for their first booked show, as well as acts that have been regularly performing throughout the region.”

Alongside a diverse lineup of entertainment, guests can enjoy beer, cider, wine and both classic (with a twist) and non-alcoholic cocktails, made with Pathfinder spirits. Signature drinks will include a Mezcal Negroni, Tequila Old Fashioned, New Your Sour and a Bay Breeze. The venue’s balcony overlooking Broadway will also be open for enjoying a drink with a view.

The opening show on May 6 will feature local comic Sam Miller, who got his start at Jai Thai’s open mic. Additional acts will be announced soon.
