Winter Dining Pop-Ups

Chef Brendan McGill’s The Bar at Café Hitchcock and Bruciato, both located on Bainbridge Island, are each offering a pop-up series to make the winter a bit more delicious.

At The Bar at Café Hitchcock, Mondays are all about Spatchcock Chicken while Oyster Friday, in partnership with Hood Canal’s Baywater Shellfish, is the best way to kick off the weekend. During the Monday special, each chicken dinner (dine-in or takeaway) comes with a salad of local chicories, mashed potatoes and a chocolate chip cookie tart with ice cream. Half a chicken dinner feeds two and cost is $45; a whole chicken dinner serves four and cost is $80.

During Oyster Friday, enjoy a selection of hyper-local oysters on the half shell, shucked to order, until they’re gone, as well Salish Blue clam chowder and bar snacks. The bar has a selection of bubbles and cocktails to complement the oysters, too.

Spatchcock Chicken Monday and Oyster Friday begin at 5 p.m. weekly and are 21-and-over events (takeout is encouraged for families).

Starting Dec. 8 and taking place from 3 to 9 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month, Chef McGill’s Bruciato (known for its wood-fired pizza) transforms into Trattoria Bruciato.

This monthly pop-up dishes up a sampling of antipasti, baked pasta, large cuts meats and fish and desserts, ideal for sharing. Trattoria Bruciato will offer a rotating selection of eight to10 dishes, like lonza with olive oil, persimmon and watermelon radish; wood-fired giant Pacific octopus with puttanesca; halibut crudo with buddha’s hand, olive oil and fennel pollen; Matsutake risotto; whole-roasted fish; and much, much more.
