Restaurant of the Week: Stanford’s

Stanford’s is a classic American steakhouse focused on traditional ingredients with complex flavors. With locations in the Seattle neighborhood of Northgate, as well as Clackamas and Hillsboro in Oregon, Stanford’s is committed to providing a contemporary and flavorful steakhouse experience to locals and visitors alike.

In October 2019, Stanford’s was acquired by Ascend Hospitality Group, a Black- and female-led, locally owned, independent restaurant group based in Bellevue. The restaurant group is a collection of concepts ranging from fine-dining to fast-casual. Stanford’s Steak, a contemporary steakhouse and lounge that is also in the Stanford’s family of brands, opened in December 2021 in Downtown Tacoma.

Stanford’s has a great selection of cocktails, mocktails, wine and beer. Right now, guests can take part in a promotion called the Community Cocktail Program, in which $1 from each Community Cocktail sold will be donated to a featured nonprofit partner. As an Ascend Hospitality Group restaurant, Stanford’s is committed to elevating the local communities they serve, investing wholly in both their team members and guests to take service to the next level.

Although Stanford’s is known for its steak, its has a delicious array of appetizers that are not to be
missed such as stuffed mushrooms, pan-seared crab cakes, ahi tuna poke and crispy calamari. The restaurant has a soup that rotates daily, and plenty of salads to choose from. We love that you can
add options like grilled steak or prawns to any salad.

The steakhouse cuts are the star of the show and are hand-trimmed, grilled to your liking and served with your choice of two sides. Stanford’s proudly serves USDA Certified 1855 Black Angus Beef. There are so many options to choose from, including the rock salt-roasted prime rib, filet mignon, surf and turf, rib eye and top sirloin, alongside enhancements like lobster tail, whisky-peppercorn sauce and sautéed mushrooms. There are premium cuts offered as well, including bone-in Tomahawk rib eye and New York strip.

If steak isn’t your thing, no need to worry! Stanford’s has many other tasty offerings to choose from. There is rack of lamb, baby back ribs, steelhead, prawns and chips, the daily catch, Mediterranean-style chicken, Cajun prawn linguine, pepper-bacon mac and cheese (our personal favorite!) and many more options. For handhelds, diners can dig into a classic burger, prime dip, Portobello mushroom burger, chicken club and a crab-and-artichoke sandwich. Yum!

Stanford’s offers classic desserts like apple crisp skillet and chocolate mousse cake. There are dessert cocktails as well–chocolate martini, anyone?

Stanford’s is open Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and and Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Stanford’s has happy hour deals Monday to Friday, 3 to 6 p.m., and from 8 p.m. to close. For more information, visit www.stanfords.com.
