Restaurant of the Week: Oddfellows Café + Bar

On the edge of Seattle’s diverse Capitol Hill neighborhood is Oddfellows Café + Bar. Nestled between the Pike and Pine Corridor, this industrial space has become a staple for both locals and foodies to indulge in good eats. Dishing up homemade baked goods and fresh fare all day, every item is inspired by both Italian and French classics.

This welcoming environment provides both indoor and outdoor dining, suitable for a casual get-together, remote office, date night and more. Stop by Oddfellows Café Monday through Friday for breakfast or lunch to enjoy your meal or beverage of choice sitting inside its main dining area or outside on one of the beautiful patios (the front patio is also dog friendly!). Famously known for its fresh-baked goods, the biscuit and jam is a staple when dining at Oddfellows Café. This buttery and flaky biscuit is sprinkled with sea salt then served with butter and jam, making it a wonderful addition to your meal or enjoyed all on its own.

Oddfellows Café has a great selection of breakfast items for those early-risers, and the baked eggs–prepared with ham, leek cream, spinach and cheese–are a great way to start the day. Pair a homemade bacon, cheese and chive savory scone with a bowl of fresh seasonal fruit topped with nuts, mint and honey (add Greek yogurt and granola for $3). Kick it up a notch with some lunch features like the little gem Caesar salad, a true fan favorite. Tossed with parmesan and sourdough breadcrumbs, Oddfellows Café’s perfect Caesar dressing makes this salad a midday must.

On the sandwich and toast side of the menu, the signature parmesan egg toast is topped with a parmesan butter, shaved asparagus and arugula, making this a simple yet must-try item. The B.L.A.T. is stacked with crispy bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, aioli and an optional add-on of turkey for an additional $3 that truly takes this sandwich to the next level. Served with a side salad, it is also excellent for sharing. The classic mac and cheese, a bubbling ooey-gooey decadent offering dished up in a cast iron skillet, can be finished off with crispy bacon.

The Melrose Spritz is an all-around great drink to enjoy as a day sipper or a night cap. Poured with Meletti Amaro, Lillet rose, bubbles and soda, this spritz is as delicious as it is pleasing to the eye. Try one of the refreshing “booze-free” options like the basil limeade, made with a homemade basil syrup, or the lavender-rose lemonade, infused with a homemade lavender-rose syrup.

Alongside a full wine and beer menu, Oddfellows Café + Bar also offers exquisite dinner fare, serving an array of starters, full plates and delectable desserts with the mixed berry pie as a particularly popular choice.

Oddfellows Café is currently open weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are available for dinner only, while breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch are first come, first served.
