Restaurant of the Week: Ascend Prime Steak and Sushi

Located on the 31st floor of Bellevue’s Lincoln Tower South is Ascend Prime Steak and Sushi, home to a dynamic variation of Asian fusion fare. Panoramic views allow you to see the stunning Seattle skyline, Lake Washington, Mount Rainier and more, all while experiencing a vibrant food and beverage menu, making Ascend Prime a premier dining destination in the greater Seattle area.

Ascend is famously known for its high-quality sushi, premium steaks and signature cocktails. And the restaurant has now taken elements from its dinner service to cultivate an interactive weekend brunch experience for guests. Once seated, you will make a selection from the 3D brunch cube, strategically placed in the center of the table. After glancing at the prix-fixe menu, your server will ask which tier you are wanting to participate in, including two, three or four selections (the selection tiers range from $65 to $88 per person). This is also a wonderful opportunity to dine family-style, and try a variety of dishes as sharing is encouraged. A pastry basket, brewed coffee/tea and fresh-pressed juice is also included with Ascend’s brunch.

The chicharron chicken and waffles are unlike any other, an Asian fusion spin on this classic breakfast dish. A malted matcha waffle, topped with karaage-style chicken, sesame chicken skins and then topped with 100 percent maple and hot honey syrup, is a must when making your brunch selections–and pairs perfectly with the Mang-Mosa. The morning-friendly cocktail elevates a traditional mimosa, using Cîroc mango, fresh mango and mandarin juice, citric acid and sparkling wine.

A savory standout, try the Dungeness crab and avocado crostino benedict. Togarashi truffle toast, topped with avocado, fresh Dungeness crab and yuzu hollandaise, is an excellent option while dining at Ascend as the restaurant only uses the freshest and highest quality seafood. (This supplement menu item is available for an additional $20.) Another outstanding supplement item is the caviar salmon and egg; this comes with four individual smoked salmon crostinos, creamy scrambled organic eggs, then layered with Osetra caviar and topped with creme fraiche. (Serves two people and can be added on to your brunch selection for $200.)

If you’re seeking a brunch on the sweeter side, the Fruitopia pancakes are an exceptional choice and notably one of the most popular vegetarian brunch options. Unlike a conventional pancake, this one is rolled in a flavor of your liking (cinnamon roll or hazelnut crumble) then topped with Pacific Northwest berries or bruleed bananas then drizzled with blood orange-scented syrup. Finish this off with the Aspresso martini poured with La Colombe espresso, Belvedere, Frangelico, Kahlua and Baileys.

Brunch is now offered Saturday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and reservations are always encouraged. While a table by the window is highly requested (add this preference to your reservation), you can enjoy the magnificent views from any location throughout the restaurant.
