Restaurant of the Week: Pike Taproom Ballard

One the oldest and most popular breweries in Washington has officially opened the doors to its newest taproom. Pike Taproom is located in Ballard, one of Seattle’s trendiest waterfront neighborhoods, pouring up pints of Pike Brewing Company favorites, alongside rotating guest beers, cider and craft cocktails.

The newly renovated space that houses the taproom pays homage to the original brick walls while bringing in a modern flare with lighting and colorful vintage truck-seat booths throughout. You can’t miss the stunning custom steel wall mount behind the bar, which was inspired by The Ballard Bridge. This 2,500-sq.-ft. taproom is an excellent place to celebrate with friends and family, host a team outing, spend a date night or stroll in after the Ballard Farmers Market.

Pike Taproom is famously known for its variety of brews, but the hits don’t stop there. The team is now making a name for itself as home to some of the best chicken wings in Seattle. Fried to perfection with a lightly breaded layer, these juicy, tender chicken wings are offered in an array of flavors from the classic buffalo to sweet chili, garlic parmesan, teriyaki and house hot sauce. This basket of wings is paired with a side of ranch and bleu cheese dipping sauces, along with pickled carrots.

In addition to the legendary wings, try one of the delicious shareables like the Pike pretzel with stout mustard. Pike Taproom Ballard also has a lineup of tasty handhelds, including the mouthwatering Smokin’ Da Gouda bacon burger, stacked with ooey-gooey gouda cheese and crispy bacon packed into a soft buttery bun. The signature McPike burger, put together with a pint of Post Alley Pils, a German pilsner, is accompanied with an order of fries–the perfect pairing. In fact, this combination is so good the taproom now offers it as an adult “Happy Meal” during happy hour, Tuesday through Friday, 3 to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 p.m. to close.

Plus, Pike Brewing will release Stronger Bonds, its Pink Boots beer, just in time for International Women’s Day on March 8. Stronger Bonds has notes of guava and passionfruit supported by a light malt body and will be featured on draft at Pike Brewing all March. The Pink Boots Society is an international collective of women in the brewing industry; a percentage of the sales from the special beer go toward scholarships and continuing education.

Pike Taproom Ballard is open Tuesday to Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m.; Friday, 3 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, noon to midnight; and Sunday, noon to 9 p.m.
