Driftwood To Open in Seattle’s Alki Beach

Seattle’s Alki Beach neighborhood, on the shores of Puget Sound, will welcome Driftwood late this summer. Driftwood Seattle stems from Executive Chef Dan Mallahan and his business partner/wife Jackie Mallahan, marking the couple’s very first brick-and-mortar restaurant.

Inspired by the surrounding region, Driftwood Seattle will focus on local, top-quality ingredients and regional community partnerships. Chef Mallahan has partnered with farmers in the Deschutes, Green and Snohomish River valleys, as well as Vashon and the San Juan islands to grow ingredients exclusively for Driftwood Seattle, while closely working with tribal members of the Quinault, and Makah tribes to source some of the best fish in the world. As such, Driftwood Seattle is anticipated to have an exceptional oyster and shellfish program, in addition to its menu of shared plates, mains and dessert. (Chef Mallahan is no stranger to the seafood game, having previously open RIDER restaurant in Seattle in 2017.)

The menu will be complemented by Driftwood Seattle’s extensive bar program of fun coastal cocktails highlighting spirits from local distilleries and around the world, a selection of local and domestic beers, and Washington’s finest wines.

There will be plenty of lovely spots to enjoy such impeccable food and drink within the 2,200-sq.-ft. space. Diners can have a seat at the expansive bar, a special water-view counter and within two outdoor spaces with views of Elliott Bay. The patio will even offer semi-private dining for groups of up to 16. Driftwood Seattle guests can expect a comfy, yet refined space, with soft wood tones, sea colors of aqua and green and beautiful stone.

Driftwood Seattle will be open from 3 to 10 p.m., Thursday to Monday, upon opening later this summer. To learn more, visit www.driftwoodseattle.com.
