The Michelin-recognized restaurant brand debuted its stunning, re-designed Bellevue restaurant just last month, and it is absolutely worth a visit.

Din Tai Fung was originally founded as a cooking oil retail business in 1958 in Taiwan by Bing-Yi Yang and his wife, Pen-Mei Lai. In 1972, Din Tai Fung was reborn into a humble dumpling and noodle shop. Since its founding, the name has become synonymous with quality and consistency and is known for its warm hospitality and delicacies with authentic flavors. The family-owned business continues to be passed down through generations, with more than 170 locations in 13 countries worldwide. With each restaurant, each interaction and each bite, Din Tai Fung aims to bring people together to inspire appreciation of culture.

The re-designed Bellevue restaurant is located at Lincoln Square on the first floor of the shopping center. The interior is stunning with tall ceilings and gold accents, reminiscent of an upscale hotel lobby. Designed by the acclaimed Rockwell Group, the new restaurant reflects the Pacific Northwest environment and offers guests a serene, sophisticated retreat. The natural design is brought to life through a suspended tree installation in the main dining area, mirroring the landscape of the region and Lake Washington. The design also includes Din Tai Fung’s signature immersive dumpling expo kitchen, inviting guests to witness the artists behind the dumpling-making process firsthand.

In addition to the impressive architecture and appearance of the newly designed restaurant, the food at Din Tai Fung Bellevue is just as amazing as ever. The star of the show is the Xiao Long Bao, of course, the dish that made Din Tai Fung famous in the early 1970’s. These world-renowned soup dumplings remain central to the restaurant’s celebrated culinary repertoire. Each dumpling is handcrafted and represents the culmination of an 18-fold process, ensuring the perfect marriage of a delicate doughy skin with a rich, savory filling, often referred to as achieving the “Golden Ratio.” This art form, perfected over decades, is a testament to Din Tai Fung’s unwavering commitment to culinary excellence.

Other menu highlights include the string beans with garlic, the sweet and sour pork baby back ribs and the spicy wontons, featuring Din Tai Fung’s signature spicy sauce. The shrimp and Kurobuta pork potstickers, the fried noodles and the Shanghai rice cakes are also guest favorites. Don’t miss dessert—the chocolate and Mochi Xiao Long Bao are phenomenal.

The beverage program at Din Tai Fung is excellent, featuring craft cocktails like the hand-shaken Pear Lychee Martini, made with Grey Goose La Poire Vodka and St-Germain. The Lychee Mojito and Yuzu Margarita are other guest favorites. For a non-alcoholic option, the creamy Honey Milk Tea is delicious.
