Restaurant of the Week: The Lounge at DeLille Cellars

As one of the most sought-after winemakers in the state of Washington, DeLille Cellars has now joined the Woodinville restaurant scene. Located inside the old Red Hook Brewery and around the corner from its breathtaking tasting room is The Lounge at DeLille Cellars where you can experience true wine-centered dining, led by Executive Chef Michael C. Toni.

This full-service restaurant has brought together the popular private selection of DeLille wines, including the D2 Bordeaux Blend, and a unique experience through its wine pairing to create a casual yet social environment for any occasion. Whether you’re looking to top off a fabulous day of wine tasting, a new fun date night spot or a local place to celebrate, you won’t be disappointed here.

Prep your palate and kick off your dining experience with the cheese and charcuterie plate for two, which can be doubled for larger groups dining together. This trendy dish includes cheese, chicken pate, jardinière, preserves, olives, marcona almonds, rustic bread crisps and crackers. This option pairs well with a bottle of rosé or the bubbly comparative, which allows you a 2-oz. tasting of the Brut La Francaise and the Crochet Rosé, both from France. A refreshing starter is the wedge salad, a light bite topped with D2 pancetta, tomatoes, toasted almonds, pickled shallots and a house-made chive buttermilk dressing. Enjoy this dish as is or add on protein for a fuller meal.

Don’t forget to ask about the specials, like the market fish which changes daily, highlighting the catch of the season. The fresh taglioni is rich and full of flavor, served with parmesan brodo, egg and sage brown butter and available with a protein for some added flare to the dish. A classic and well-desired dish is the flat-iron steak frites, not only is this option gluten free but it is bursting with savory flavor in every bite. Served with a heaping pile of pomme frites, the steak is topped with Chaleur Estate Maitre’d butter, jus and a side of broccolini. Try some shareables like the crispy blistered shisito peppers tossed in flake salt, harissa aioli and light tempura. Or the duck confit poutine, served up with pomme frites, duck gravy, goat cheese pearls, honey-fig syrup and scallions.

Visiting for a late lunch? Check out the Deck Menu, offering a more casual dining experience for a family outing or getting some fuel after an afternoon of wine tasting. The warm house-made pretzel is a must, served with Red Hook ESB cheddar dip and whole-grain rosemary honey mustard. Another fan favorite are the smoked brisket nachos loaded, with cipollini balsamic béchamel, fontina, charred shisitos, candied jalapenos, scallions, cojita, creme fraiche and roasted romanesco salsa. The crispy buttermilk chicken parmesan sandwich is always an excellent choice dished up with Italian salsa verde, tomato jam, red cabbage slaw and cauliflower pickles. You can enjoy this on its own or with a side kale salad or seasonal soup.

Once you’re ready for something sweet, order up the flourless chocolate torte accompanied with fresh seasonal berries and coconut milk espresso ganache. Or the house-made maple bread pudding that’s made fresh to order with a bourbon-pecan caramel and orange creme anglaise.

Don’t fret as there are also lots of delicious options for your kiddos as well, even for the picky eaters. What kid would say no to buttered noodles served with parmesan cheese? Or buttermilk chicken nuggets? And The Lounge kids menu even has root beer floats, perfect for those warm summer nights out on the deck!

The Lounge offers more than just an excellent atmosphere, delicious food and top notch wine. Enjoy live music every Thursday during summer on The Deck from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Listen to talented artists while you wait for your to-go order (wine and food is available for pick up) or stay and dine in. Open year round, The Deck allows for casual dining through all the seasons while its interior offers a cozy atmosphere equipped with a fireplace for those colder fall and winter nights.

The Lounge at DeLille Cellars is open Wednesday through Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 3 to 8 p.m. To learn more about The Lounge at DeLille Cellars, visit www.delillecellars.com.
