Nestled between the Wallingford and Fremont neighborhoods is Fiasco—a casual Italian food restaurant. Heavy Restaurant Group, a locally owned and operated Seattle company, is the mastermind behind many fan favorites in the Greater Seattle area, with Fiasco among its list of notable dining destinations.
Fiasco is known for and prides themselves on serving up pizza, pasta, salad and sandwiches with Chef Keta Newhouse-Benson at the helm. The seasonal offerings will draw you in to try new dishes, but the menu staples will keep you coming back for more. One such staple is the vodka-battered calamari, served with marinara and black pepper. The batter is light and fluffy, not too greasy or weighed down, as some calamari can be.
The star of the show is definitely the pappardelle Bolognese. The noodles are made fresh in-house, and you can taste the difference. Complete with parmesan and fennel, this is a perfect pasta dish that you could never get tired of eating.
To contrast with the red sauce, The 1985 pizza is topped with spicy barbecue sauce, pulled chicken, red onion and cilantro. This is not traditionally Italian by any means, but it is delicious and a great dish to balance with the more conventional pasta. It’s safe to say you should never skim over the menu here— you might miss out on something tasty!
The atmosphere, while described as casual, is perfect for essentially any occasion. The large windows let plenty of light in, highlighting the comfy and modern industrial interior design. Whether it be birthdays, date nights or even just a quick bite with friends, Fiasco is sure to please.
Not only is Fiasco a restaurant, but the location also boasts a wine bar and newly added marketplace called Heavy Goods. The Claret Wine Bar (which is currently closed) is nestled inside Fiasco, offering a rotating variety of wines for both pickup and take-out orders. Heavy Goods also offers wine, as well as prepared foods and meals kits inspired by the restaurant.
