Deru Market

Restaurant of The Week: DERUmarket

Tucked away in the heart of Kirkland, this local and organic eatery has so much to offer. DERUmarket is a true hidden gem dishing up pre-made meals for the family, fresh salads, wood-fired pizza and the most amazing—and gigantic—desserts.

Chefs Jamie Casady and Jordon Cooper have created an atmosphere that is bright, warm and welcoming at this neighborhood charmer. The clean white walls, simplistic dining tables and seasonal menu options make Deru Market a casual-dining dream. Plus, every dish is cooked from scratch with the best ingredients from locally sourced farmers.

Now open seven days a week for breakfast (the AM sandwich with house porchetta is a hearty winner), brunch, lunch and dinner (try the bologanese or simple spaghetti), you can grab some of Deru Market’s best dishes to-go—whether it be at your favorite park or from the comfort of your own home. The restaurant is also now offering a super-convenient drive-thru option or walk-up takeout orders, with delivery coming soon.

One menu favorite is the farm salad with a heaping bowl of harvest greens, seasonal veggies, pepitas, feta, herbs and Deru’s own house herb vinaigrette. Pairing this with one of the wood-fired pizzas and a refreshing beverage, like the refreshing beet-lemon muddle, makes for the perfect family or date night.

Carb lovers rejoice because all of Deru’s sandwiches are made with a house focaccia bread that is baked fresh daily. And don’t miss out on one of the restaurant’s famous cakes. Known to be the largest cake slices you will ever see, they are easily enough to feed two or three people. The signature coconut cake with dreamy cream cheese frosting is a local favorite. Do not worry chocolate fiends; Deru offers an amazing chocolate cake with salted peanut butter frosting that isn’t to be missed.
