Hometown: Salt Lake City.
First job: The 47 Samurai, a teppanyaki restaurant. I learned to do everything from tempura to yakitori, and even some tricks tableside on the teppanyaki griddle.
Favorite ways to spend your free time in WA: Hiking, camping, sailing, fishing, crabbing, snowboarding and eating out.
Your biggest accomplishment and why: Raising a family and being married 20 years.
Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Eyes and ears open, mouth shut (unless you’re tasting something), at least for the first few years.
