How did your love story begin? Jodi: We met when we were 19 and 22 on First and Blanchard at the old Queen City Grill. Alan: I spied a cool girl at a Capital Hill house party, and later realized she had a killer apartment across the street from Queen City Grill, the restaurant where I cooked. A few days later I was invited by a mutual friend to join in on a trip to Kitsap County. A judicious time later, I made her a coffee, walked across the street and tapped on her window. It’s been working out ever since.
Favorite thing about one another: Jodi: Alan makes me laugh even when I’m annoyed. He’s thoughtful and the best gift giver. Alan: Jodi has a crazy keen sense of intuition. Probably psychic. I wouldn’t have done half of the cool stuff I’ve got to do if it weren’t for her. Also, she’s super hot.
Favorite date night: Jodi: Fire pit with our pups. Alan: NYC spots (there is an ever-expanding list) without the dogs (distractors). We are pretty good at going on dinner dates. The fire pit is great too.
Favorite tradition you have as a couple: Jodi: Sacred Sunday.
What does your happily ever after look like? Jodi: To keep cheering each other on. Alan: This is it. Happily ever after has to happen all the time. As a couple, I think we both value spending time with friends and making what we’ve got a little better, as often as we are able.
