Bon appetit! An interactive pop-up rightfully called “Forage and Feast” is being presented by Kaleena Bliss, this year’s PSBJ 40 under 40, and Nicco Muratore, executive chef of Mama Restaurant Group. Through a joyful, engaging, all-day event filled with foraging and feasting, the chef hopes to reconnect people with food and the environment. Join in on the fun on Sunday, Oct. 16 for a foraging excursion, plenty of snacks, a chef-curated dinner and wine.

The event kicks off with a guided foraging walk. With chanterelles and lobster mushrooms on the forefront of the menu, this intimate group experience will teach participants how to harvest mushrooms from the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie forests. Guests will help identify and properly pick mushrooms, and the guests get to keep all the mushrooms they find on the trip. After foraging, guests will be greeted with a spread of snacks, including charcuteries, cheeses, pickles, dips, crackers and breads.

Once back in the city, the dinner menu is promising and is as follows:

-Confit lobster mushroom kebabs, winter squash tzatziki, black garlic glaze, apple-kohlrabi salad

-Charred chicory salad, pickled chanterelles, fromage blanc, toasted pepita, vinaigrette with fresh herbs

-Woodfired fall squash stuffed with farro cooked in mushroom stock, assorted fall mushrooms, herbed chevre, toasted pistachio, and all of the herbs

-Wild mushroom flatbread, garden pesto, beechers cheddar, pickled peppers, herbs

-Hearth roasted short ribs with porcini jus, morel and chanterelle fresh corn polenta, hearth wilted kale and greens, shaved matsutake
