The Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival

The Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival is set to kick off the new year with a special Winter Festival, Jan. 13 to Jan. 16 at intimate venues throughout Walla Walla.

The Winter Festival features four performances over four days, ranging from Bach’s Goldberg Variations performed by candlelight to 21st-century works by composers of color Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and Carman Moore.

Admission to each performance is $30 per person. Festival passes, which provide entrance to all four performances, are available for $100 each. Tickets and passes can be purchased HERE. Special Winter Festival lodging rates are available for festival-goers at The FINCH. Scheduled performances include the following:

Thursday, Jan. 13
Portrait of an Artist: David Korevaar, piano
A recital and conversation with internationally acclaimed pianist David Korevaar, featuring the music of Florence Price, Frederic Chopin, and more.
6-7 p.m. ($30; doors open at 5 p.m.)

Friday, Jan. 14
Special Event: Bach’s Goldberg Variations
Bach’s timeless masterpiece, performed in its exquisite arrangement for string trio, performed by candlelight.

Saturday, Jan. 15
Tasting Music: George Enescu Third Sonata for Violin and Piano
A Romanian fantasy if ever there was one, with the piano surging like a hammered cimbalom and the violin whooping, lamenting, and dancing in turn.

Sunday, Jan. 16
Festival Series: January 2022
Featuring Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson’s Movement for String Trio (2004), Carman Moore’s Blue…Red…Green (2009), and a reprise performance of George Enescu’s Sonata No. 3 from the previous night.
7-9 p.m. ($30; doors open at 6 p.m.)

In accordance with the WWCMF Vaccination Policy, all patrons attending a live performance in-person must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination at the concert before entering the venue.
